2008 WSOP Diary, Main Event Day 1D: Dylan Linde and Steve Austin Are Chip Leaders
Steve Austin   So what do Dylan Linde and Steve Austin not have in common with Jennifer Tilly? Well if you include a Y chromosome and a penchant for really cute shoes, the list is probably pretty big. Specifically though, Dylan and Steve are still alive in the Main Event and Jennifer Tilly along with Ms. Duke have been eliminated.

Not only are Dylan Linde and Steve Austin still hanging around in the tournament, but they are the Day 1D chip leaders. While these are not the sort of names that will strike fear into the hearts of opponents like Hellmuth or Negreanu, their Main Event adversaries are going to have to learn to respect them or watch the rest of the proceedings from the rail, just like Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Todd Brunson, and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

One poker lady who is still hanging on, but only just, is Shannon Elizabeth. She has barely 20,000 chips to her name. Under most circumstances this means she would constitute nothing more than a light snack for a more chip wealthy player, but the way the WSOP has gone this year, nobody would be surprised if she came from behind to win the whole thing.

Along with some tense and serious play that saw some very big names being punted from the Main Event, we also had our Tourette's syndrome moment of the day. Everything seemed to stop when a profanity starting with the letter "F" rang out clearly from the middle of the room. As it turned out, nothing was happening at that table besides some shuffling by the dealer. Either the player objected to the technique the dealer was using or his brain just registered a previous bad beat, but his expletive stopped the action in the room for a moment. Chances are we will be hearing a lot more of that in the coming days.
