There are a number of elderly people who have been fond of the old adage that "a change is as good as a rest". First of all, anyone who would take the position that a change of scenery is as good as some solid downtime has never known the simple pleasure of drinking half a bottle of NyQuil and watching the Teletubbies - that is the sort of experience that will not only leave a body well rested, but also profoundly changed and possibly brain damaged. Nobody would ever accuse Kathy Liebert of being brain damaged, but a change in team scenery seems to have paid off pretty well for her.
This year Kathy has joined team PokerStars. This has not only swelled their ranks of world class players, but it has paid immediate dividends. By the end of Day 2, Kathy was at the final table and poised for an impressive finish to the day's activities; granted, she may not be in position to win the first bracelet of the season, she currently is near the bottom of the chip count with 285,000. We will see if she can make up some ground on the final day of competition.
Event #2 ($1,500 No Limit Holdem) ended with 224 players still kicking. This heap is currently ruled by David Robertson. Those of you who have never heard of him need not feel badly, it seems that unless you are genetically connected to him in some way, he is a new face on the scene.
While Robertson enjoys the chip lead at the end of Day 1A, it is Harry Tran who finishes with all the momentum as he has been an elimination machine on this first day of the second event. These players will get some downtime as they watch to see who comes out of Day 1B with some energy.
