This year they won't be able to do that with Event 20, the H.O.R.S.E. event that is debuting at the Rio. Comprised of five different events, with a sixth as the final table competition, H.O.R.S.E. has long been called for by the pros, who see it as a truer indicator of who is the best poker player than No-Limit Texas Holdem alone. Next year poker fans will look to this event as the ground layer for all future events. With only 143 participants it is a fairly small field, but with a $50,000 buy in, it is no wonder the players were kept down under 150. Still, the prize pool of $6,864,000 certainly kept things interesting. When poker players bust out of an event it is often a painful moment, especially if they have not landed in the money. In the case of this event the moment must be unbelievably difficult, with so much money on the line. Those who are benefiting from all of those heartbreaking moments are the final nine players, and this particular group of players promises to be quite a show when ESPN finally airs it. The table looked like this:Player, LocationChip Count Seat #Chip Reese, Las Vegas, NV1,756,0003Doyle Brunson, Las Vegas, NV$1,227,0002Andy Bloch, Las Vegas, NV$934,0005Phil Ivey, Las Vegas, NV$885,0009Jim Bechtel, Gilbert, AZ841,0001David Singer, Momaroneck, NY$745,0007Dewey Tomko, Winter Haven, FL $438,0004T.J. After the longest heads-up match in WSOP history, Chip Reese took the win in the event.
