World Series of Poker Europe - Main Event Champion Is Crowned

Anybody who still thinks that the younger generation of poker players is not currently the dominant force in the sport probably also believes that Schlitz is the real "King of Beers". The World Series of Poker Europe was a period on any sentence that talks about how the Internet has changed the sport.  Before today Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad had the glorious distinction of being the best multi-table tournament player that the internet has to offer. In certain snobbish corners of the sport, the "poker elite" behave as if being the best tournament player in cyberspace is the equivalent of being the best race car driver in Hazzard County. Those who underestimate the online kids who are now flooding the sport not only have to grudgingly acknowledge the fact that most of the World Series of Poker winners were barely old enough to shave, but have to accept the reality that the historic Main Event winner of the World Series of Poker Europe was an 18 year old young lady from Norway who cut her teeth playing over the internet.  Annette's road to the championship was no walk in the park. She had to wade through one of the toughest fields of players in recent memory. Obrestad had even managed to personally eliminate Jennifer Harman, a woman who was marching through the Main Event like Alexander through the Middle East.  In the end it came down to Annette_15 against John Tabatabai. After a competitive heads up match, Annette walked away with a million pounds and the distinction of being the youngest bracelet winner in WSOP history.  Whether the brand of poker the online kids play is a style that most of the more recognizable players can't adjust to or the sheer numbers of them are crowding out the "Classic" players, is still in doubt. The truth is that these youngsters are racking up championships while the Brunsons and Corkins of the world are living on past glory and hoping nobody will notice their tournament struggles.  We congratulate Annette_15. It is obvious much more will be heard from her in the future.  The final standings and payouts are as follows:1  Annette Obrestad  £1,000,0002  John (Kunkuwap) Tabatabai  £570,1503  Mathew McCullough  £381,9104  Oyvind Riisem  £257,0205  Johannes Korsar  £191,8606  Dominic Kay  £152,0407  Magnus Persson  £114,0308  Theo Jorgensen  £85,0709  James Keys  £61,540
