2007 WSOP Diary: Day 33, July 3rd

An entire generation of poker players was riveted to the final table of Event 50. This was one of the higher profile/higher buy in events at the World Sereis of Poker and Doyle Brunson was making an increasingly rare appearance at a final table. He came with a short stack as well as the heavy burden of the hopes of an entire age group of poker players. For the most part the World Series of Poker this year has been a celebration of youth, the sports future. This has been a trend that has become stronger and stronger as the internet and television became more a part of the sport. Doyle winning this event would speak to the relevance of the players of the baby boom generation.  But he didn't win. Brunson was punted from the final table in sixth place by a player who wasn't even a glint in his parents' eye when Doyle was being awarded his sixth bracelet. The eventual winner of this event was Robert Mizrachi; one of those evil Generation X players who are dominating the poker scene. A protest by the AARP is expected shortly.  Dao Bac prevailed in Event 51. In a bad beat that Adam Geyer probably still have nasty flashbacks of, Bac won the S.H.O.E. event, the bracelet, and $157,975.  Right now there are fewer bracelets available than there are fingers on the average person's hand. With each bracelet, there are more and more players considering next year's possibilities, or trying to talk Dr. Kevorkian out of retirement. The final table for one of the few remaining pieces of WSOP gold is now set. The last 9 people who will be competing in Event 52 are as follows:Seat 1: Kris Tate 299,000Seat 2: Michael Graves 1,233,000Seat 3: Shawn Hatten 446,000Seat 4: Shawn Luman 668,000Seat 5: Arnold Spee 760,000Seat 6: Theo Tran 1,132,000Seat 7: Thierry Cazals 651,000Seat 8: Issac Haxton 1,226,000Seat 9: Chad Batista 373,000
