There are a few things in the sport of poker that a lot of people could do without. One of them is Tony G wearing a sleeveless shirt. Another thing we can do without is Phil Hellmuth playing angry at the table.
During Event 45 Phil Hellmuth and Raj Sawant had been playing a game of cat and mouse for the better part of the day. At this particular table, Phil wasn't the cat, but rather the diseased rodent. During a hand in the early evening, Raj crippled the 11 time bracelet winner by catching just the right card on the river to give him a flush that beat the trips Phil had pinned his hopes on. Phil began to show the classic signs of a major tilt coming on.
With Phil's inner "Rosie O'Donnell" coming to the fore, Nick Van Newkirk knew that rational thought had checked out of Phil's game for the moment. He took full advantage of this and eliminated the bratty player in 31st place. The final table will have to somehow get on without Hellmuth or other pros like Tony G and Jamie Gold who also found themselves on the wrong end of an elimination.
While the drama was going on at Event 45, Frankie O'Dell was on his way to a bracelet in Event 44. He beat Thang Luu in the Omaha Hi-Lo tournament for his second WSOP bracelet.
