2007 WSOP Event 6 - Limit Holdem $1,500

When somebody is "semi-pro" at something it means that they have interest, some skill, but have not really given up their day job. The sport becomes a hobby that makes them a little extra pocket cash and gives the person an outlet to live out the sort of dreams that cause less fulfilled men to buy red Corvettes and hair plugs when they hit their forties. From a tournament perspective, Gary Styczynski was squarely in the "semi-pro" category until Event 6 of the 2007 World Series of Poker.  Today, Gary has a trophy around his wrist that a lot of players would happily sell a redundant organ to posses. He has a WSOP bracelet.  The final hand was less of a hotly contested, competitive situation and more of a coronation. It had come down to Styczynski against Varouzhan Gumroyan. Gary was ahead on chips and Varouzhan went all in while only holding an Ace and a Four. The flop didn't help Gumroyan, but gave Gary a huge boost. The river completed Styczynski's Queen high straight while Varouzhan couldn't even manage a pair.  To this point in his career, Styczynski has not made enough playing in high profile tournaments to afford VW Bug or some other low room/low performance/high mileage car. This is not a knock on Gary's poker skills. He has probably taken enough from folks in cash games to buy his own fiefdom and become a playful despot. Tournament poker, as we all know, is a completely different animal. His win at Event 6 not only brought him a bracelet, but over a quarter of a million dollars in winnings. Maybe now he officially qualifies as a tournament pro.  LaunchPoker.com would like to offer our congratulations to Gary Styczynski!PlacePlayerPrize1Gary Styczynski$280,7152Varouzhan Gumroyan$177,6273Hansu Chu$114,2784Soheil Shamseddin$75,7715James Gorham$53,4126Jimmy Holland$40,9917Michael Banks$30,4338Pete O'Donnell$22,3599Dariush Imani$16,148
