2007 WSOP Event 47 - No Limit Holdem $2,000

The last time a guy named Rodman was scoring big in the city of Las Vegas, it involved a washed up basketball player, Carmen Electra and an ill fated marriage. The nuptials between Dennis Rodman and Ms. Electra lasted less time than it would take Michael Moore to finish off a medium sized scone. Carmen eventually went on and married Dave Navarro, a man whose grip on reality is as equally precarious as Dennis's was, but he does look less like a praying mantis than the former Detroit Pistons star. Dennis still hangs out in Vegas and does the sort of things on a motorcycle while drunk off his rear that most reasonable people would avoid if they were completely sober. The Rodman related news this weekend fortunately involved a completely different sort of sportsman.

Following his bracelet winning performance at Event 47, Blair Rodman was both exhausted and elated. He spent the last part of the heads up struggle against Amato Galasso playing very aggressively. Presumably it was a race between the chips and his endurance on which was going to give out first. Rodman had bombed his Holdem opponent with some very big hands, taking chips in the sort of large chunks what would have gagged the most veracious T-Rex if it approached its meals in the same manner.

175 hands into the final table, it was all over. Rodman coupled the Jack in his hand with the one that came along on the flop, and the pair held for the remainder of the hand. There would be no savior at the river card for Galasso (who needed a King to win).

Congratulations to Blair Rodman on his impressive win at Event 47.
