Favorites don't always win. There is the occasional upset when it comes to one side being heavily favored over another. We are sure Vegas took a bath on the fight that saw a 12 foot Goliath losing to a kid named David who decided that the best strategy in dealing with the massive Philistine was to stay out of reach and chuck rocks at the big man until the giant fell down. This is the exception, though, not the rule. Let's face it, in a circumstance where Michael Jordan is playing some one-on-one basketball against Louie Anderson, Michael is going to win unless Louie is allowed to play defense with an AK-47. This same formula applies if you are playing in a tournament where the final table includes Erick Lindgren and Daniel Negreanu. Your chances of victory rate about as high as Hillary Clinton's odds of winning the Ms.Universe contest or a Hawaiian Tropics bikini competition. Don Baruch probably wouldn't do that well playing basketball against Mr. Jordan, but apparently looked at who was at his final table and drank the same motivational Kool-Aid that David took before taking on Goliath. Lindgren wasn't a factor for very long at the final table. He was eliminated in 8th place. Daniel Negreanu hung on for a bit longer and was serious threat for the bracelet before he was eliminated in third place. At hand 214 Jared Davis was the only thing standing between Baruch and a WSOP bracelet. Davis went all in while holding an unsuited A-5. Don started this hand with K-Q combo, and by the time the turn card was out on the board, he had a nearly invincible full house (Q-Q-Q-9-9). David had not only slain a pair of Goliaths but also went through a few David wannabes on the way to a title.PlacePlayerPrize1Donald Baruch$264,1072Jared Davis$149,2633Daniel Negreanu$101,3514Thomas Fuller$68,7965Michael Wehner$36,8556Brandon Lee$22,1137Doug Baughman$15,9718Erick Lindgren$12,8999Fred Goldberg$9,828
