Count Your Own Pot at WSOPE

Count Your Own Pot at WSOPE

A scanning of the rules is recommended for anyone planning on playing a poker tournament, especially if it is one with such a huge price tag as the World Series of Poker Europe. The main event rings in at about twice that of the regular main event at the WSOP (no E), so an understanding if the rules is imperative. One rule that newcomers might be surprised at involves counting up the money in the pot at any given time. In short, don't ask the dealer or you may get snubbed.  The only game where a player can ask what is in the pot is a pot limit game. In limit and no limit games, the dealer stays out of it. Sitting at a ten handed limit game at $50/ $100 with the UTG raising one bet, four callers, the small blind dropping out, the big blind raising and only two callers puts how much in the pot? If you said $1,450, you are ready for the big game. If you are still working out the numbers, you might want to get in some practice.  Online might not seem like a great place to practice, as most poker rooms post the size of the pot for you, but many of those same online poker rooms will let you turn that function off as well. This way you can play small games and practice counting what is in the pot at all times. Then, when you have built this skill up to the point where it is automatic, you are ready to focus on the WSOPE.
