Kara has a claim to fame that most people cannot match; she began her media career as the host of a televised backgammon matches. The only thing more unlikely then a diamond making it out of the rough of backgammon is if the judge for American Idol was a color commentator for the World Championship of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Kara quickly transcended the limbo of backgammon based television, and went on to be the host of the award winning show “Poker Night Live.” She conneteced with the game, and went on to pen articles in such mainstream publications as Flush and Poker Player Magazine. In 2007 she joined Soccer AM’s Helen Chamberlain as one of the two female personalities on Sky Television’s show Sky Poker. Talking about poker was one thing for her though, she also wanted to be in the action.
Kara entered the fray officially, so to speak, in 2007. Kara was victorious in the celebrity heat of the PartyPoker.net World Woman's Open. After she was succesful among the celebrity class, she went on to prove her mettle against legit players by also winning the first main heat of the competition. Eventually she came in a very respectable 6th place. Kara has also managed to represent herself well at the World Series of Poker by outlasting thousands of other players before eventually being eliminated in 104th place. This achievement netted her $41,816.
While she has success as both a commentator and player, she has had some rather silly moments. In the past she has been one of the stars of the campy karate film "Sucker Punch", and after losing a bet to one Chris Tessaro of the Hardcore Poker Radio Show, she had do her commentary at the EPT San Remo wearing a bunny suit. We don’t mean a sexy, playboy style bunny suit, but the sort that an Easter Bunny at the mall would wear. The fact that she would submit to this sort of thing says a lot about the type of person she is. For many of us, this was a good thing.
