The L.A. Poker Classic will be bigger than ever this year. That is saying something, considering how big this series of poker tournaments already. This year, the guaranteed prize pool will top the $3.3 million mark. This is, of course, just the guaranteed portion from organizers of the poker tournaments. Those coming to the Commerce Casino to play in an L.A. Poker Classic event can expect a prize pool that is closer to $20 million. From Jan. 21 to March 4, players can take part in a poker tournament schedule that includes the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational, and the WPT’s $10,000 L.A. Poker Classic Championship.
Over the course of the month and a half of casino poker, 50 events will be on the poker tournament schedule. According to John Griffo, the casino's director of marketing and advertising, "This LAPC is longer, bigger and richer. With $20 million at stake, what poker player wouldn't want to be at Commerce?"
The World Poker Tour is obviously going to play a big part in this year’s L.A. Poker Classic. The Celebrity Invitational is always a big draw for players and curious celebrity watchers alike, and the $10,000 L.A. Poker Classic Championship is the crowning jewel for this casino poker series of tournaments.
While the WPT sponsored Championship event is the most coveted title on the schedule, it is not the only $10,000 event that will be played. Those who enjoy the variety and all round skills required to succeed in H.O.R.S.E. can pony up ten grand and play for this championship as well. Also, an ironman event will challenge the mental focus and physical endurance of the players involved. This $2,100 event will feature no breaks during play.
The schedule is available at the Commerce Casino's website. Participation information can also be found here.
