WPT Invitational

WPT Invitational

When the World Poker Tour burst onto the scene number of years ago, it revolutionized poker television with the addition of small lipstick cameras built right into the poker table, so that the previously secret pocket cards of each player were now revealed for the viewing audience at home, giving them the opportunity to play along and root for their favorite players.  Along the way the World Poker Tour has created a number of memorable events, one of the most memorable of which is the World Poker Tour Invitational.  The World Poker Tour Invitational is an event that brings not only poker superstars together to play, but the Hollywood poker fanatics as well. It was this event that kick-started the Hollywood craze in poker, with movie stars, TV stars, rock stars and every other tennis star sitting down at the cell with all the "names" of poker. Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Ferguson, Barry Greenstein - they all began rubbing elbows with the Hollywood elite. In the Season Four World Poker Tour Invitational event it was Barry Greenstein, the Robin Hood of Poker, who took the championship title and the $200,000 prize, and subsequently gave it all away to charity.  Since its inception, the Texas Holdem craze in Hollywood has grown even bigger and drawn in even more Hollywood celebrities. Running March 3-5, 2007 at the Commerce Casino, this event will be one of the hottest on the World Poker Tour circuit in Season 5 - you won't want to miss it!
