2007 APPT Sydney

2007 APPT Sydney

The Asian Pacific Poker Tour is new this year, and it has already set a number of records. With the first live poker event to take place on the soil of the People's Republic of China, the APPT Macau event turned a lot of heads, and the Big Event at the end of the season - the Asian Pacific Poker Tour Sydney - is likely to do the same.

Australia is no stranger to major poker tournaments, with the Aussie Millions and the Crown Victoria Championships, so another event isn't the big deal, but the fact that it is part of a new tour that may one day rival the success of the European Poker Tour is pretty big.

Playing at the Star City Casino (at 80 Pyramont St - Pyrmont NSW, AUS), the Asian Pacific Poker Tour Sydney will run from December 13th to December 16th, and it will be one big event. The buy in is $5,460 + a $275 tourney fee, and the cards hit the air exactly at 03:30 PM PST. There will be a guaranteed $3 million prize pool, certain to draw in players from around the globe. US poker pros will make the trip to hunt down this prize pool, and there will be plenty of local competition, such as 2005 World Series of Poker main event champion Joe "Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!" Hachem.

The Asian Pacific Poker Tour is being put on by a major online poker room which, along with a few others, will be offering qualifiers and super satellites to the event.
