The second of two new events added to the European Poker Tour this year is the German Open, also know as the EPT Dortmund. Along with the Polish Open in Warsaw, this German event replaces the French Open which was shut down by changes in the political atmosphere in France. Held at the Casino Hohensyburg in Dortmund, Germany, the EPT German Open will take place from March 8th through March 11th of 2007, giving Germany a chance to host one of the most popular events in the poker year, leading up to the final of the EPT in Monte Carlo. This event has the buy in of the EPT standard of €5,000 and will run as a four day Texas Holdem No Limit event in one of the most modern casinos in Europe. If you plan on participating in the event, be aware that you will be required to purchase a casino VIP Package at €60 per day - unless you qualified via Poker Stars, which means your VIP package is complementary. With the VIP package you get entrance to the casino, a buffet, and drinks such as coffee, tea, beer, and soft drinks. The direct buy ins have been sold out, but there is a chance to get in via a waiting list in case of cancellations. And seats have been reserved for Poker Stars online qualifiers.
