Poker Tips- The Bankrupt Berserker

battle

Today’s poker tip is about finances. Back in the days when Vikings used to float around the oceans of Europe and pick fights with total strangers, they had groups of warriors called Berserkers. These guys were large, heavily armored, men with serious anger issues. For the most part, once they got themselves into a good froth during a battle, they seemed impervious to pain, compassion, reason, logic, and hygiene. They had lots of energy and would just keep coming at you with a sword or ax until you were gone or they were dispatched to an afterlife that was probably rather disappointing. Believe it or not, this all went on before the invention of Crystal Meth. Unfortunately, the Berserker is not quite dead; they just have credit cards now, and play Texas Hold'em online or in a casino.

Poker is great, it is a sport we all love, and just like the Berserkers of old, a lot of players can get themselves in a real lather when they play, and are suddenly immune to reason, logic, or the concept of fiscal responsibility. This is a really bad thing when you have a credit card close at hand and the words “I can win it back” ringing through your skull. Here is a good poker tip, no game is worth losing your home over.

Most of us are completely aware that credit card debt is real money; those badly in the hole realize this when they see their statements every month. In the United States, changes to bankruptcy laws have made getting rid of that debt much harder than it used to be. Debts to casinos are just as real as the money you owe to Visa. More than one multi-million dollar athlete has lost just about everything paying off their gambling debt at a casino. If you are going to spend money either online or at a casino, not only should you be aware of how much you are losing, but also be aware of what the bankruptcy laws are, and how much you can really pull yourself out if you get into too much trouble.

That is the poker tip for today.
