Poker Player, Cleavage, and Distracting a Texas Holdem Opponent

cleavage

Today’s poker tip is about a misnomer regarding women in poker. When it comes to poker pros, Jennifer Tilly is one of the most stunning women on...well...hmmm..., well until we discover a dimension populated by Joanna Krupa clones, Jennifer Tilly is pretty much going to be the most stunning women just about anywhere she goes. As far as poker pros go, it is much more fun watching her play Texas Holdem them Greg Raymer or Todd Brunson, and she knows it. So when she wears the type of outfit that could resurrect puberty in the stodgiest old curmudgeon, she is not doing it as part of a poker strategy, Jennifer is probably wearing that outfit for the camera. If she finds herself playing Texas holdem with poker pros like the aforementioned Raymer of Brunson, all they will be thinking about regarding her is getting their greedy little hands all over her stacks, and we don’t mean the ones under her top. In short, cleavage is not a poker strategy and will not distract experienced Texas holdem poker players and poker pros.

I once talked to a female Texas Holdem player who swore up and down that “her girls” had more than once help her beat other players winning hands. This is not a poker strategy that should be embraced. There are a lot of women poker players who have adopted the theory that men will be blinded by cleavage, and suddenly not play their best or lay down winning hands in order to gain favor with a busty player. The reality is that this sort of poker strategy rarely works. Of course there are those who will find themselves hypnotized by a low cut top, but in reality most moderately competent male poker players will not let what a women is wearing (or not wearing) influence how they behave during a hand of poker.

We are not using a Texas holdem poker tip in an effort to tell female poker players how to dress when playing poker (or criticizing the lady poker pros who take advantage of their assets). We are rather using the poker tip vehicle to let women know that their male competition is not nearly as brutish as they think. What female poker players should take away from this poker tip is not to allow a shallow and erroneous stereotype that says a man’s IQ takes a nose dive in the presence of cleavage to become part of your overall poker strategy.

That is the poker tip for today.
