He is probably everyone's favorite pipe smoking detective (we don't think any of the people on the half dozen "Law & Orders" out there smoke a pipe.) He coined a wonderfully condescending phrase, "Elementary, my dear Watson." He is Sherlock Holmes, and while he wasn't much of a card player, he still can teach you a lot about Holdem. Sherlock Holmes, when not playing his violin or fooling about with bees, solved some of the darkest mysteries of all (imaginary) time, and he did so with a cool head, and a sense that reason could uncover any secret. This is the attitude you need to approach Holdem with. You need to know that you are capable of discerning the hidden meaning behind any of your opponents' actions. You need to remember to reason through every choice you make, as well as every choice your opponents make. Are they trying to hide something? Is that a bluff or a true bet? These questions can be answered when you apply deduction and reason to your game. Play Holdem like Sherlock Holmes solved crimes. If you remember to reason your way through every choice, it will become elementary.
