Everyone has to pay the blinds. They're the tax to sit at the table. For the most part, players realize this, and thus don't fight too hard to protect their blinds. After all, they don't always have to pay them, and they can make back the lost chips on good hands.
Due to this, you can win some quick small pots if you're willing to steal the blinds.
Stealing the blinds doesn't require decent hole cards. It doesn't even require a lot of savvy. All that stealing the blinds requires is some aggression and confidence, as well as the will to risk a few more chips than you might normally want to before the flop.
If you want to steal the blinds, bet high. Bet more than anyone would dare call, and suddenly you've won a few extra chips. As long as no one is holding the nuts, they'll usually let you take the piddling preflop pot.
This works especially well if you're right behind the blinds in position.
It may just be a small pot, but you can easily steal the blinds for a few extra chips from time to time.
