Bulging

Bulging

You will sometimes find yourself with a massive amount of chips when playing Holdem. You may have been lucky, or you may have just played a particularly good game. Maybe your opponents are just that bad. Whatever the reason, you find yourself with a lot of chips, and you might get a little giddy.

In these cases, beware, because you may find your large pile of chips slowly dwindling, and you won't even notice this until it is too late. It comes from the sense of empowerment you get when you're riding high on your winnings. That sense of empowerment causes you to take risks and gamble chips in ways you wouldn't otherwise attempt.

This means you have to be doubly careful when you are doing exceptionally well. Not only are the other players a threat to your continued success, but so is your success itself. You will be tempted to spend more chips than you normally would simply because you can spend more chips than you are normally accustomed to spending, but in doing so you are taking an undue risk with your hard earned winnings.

Watch out when your pockets are bulging with chips: some might fall out, and you won't even notice it.
