When we are talking about the topic of backdoor draws, it either means poker is the current subject or somebody is reading the really interesting kind of personal ads that can be found on Craigslist. In this case we are referring to the potential of your hole cards.
Nobody is going to argue that a pair of Aces is perhaps the best two cards a person can be dealt before the flop, and how you play those cards is almost self-evident. Almost equally nice, and much more versatile is an overcard (just about any overcard) paired with another high card of the same suit. A good example of this would be something like a K-J.
If you have a K-J show up in your hand, from the early position you will obviously limp in. If somebody from the late position raises, you can feel pretty good about calling the raise. If you are sitting in a mid or late position, being the person to initiate the raise is not the worst idea in the world. Aggression works very well with this hand.
While a player obviously doesn't have a made hand, the reason that a player can feel secure about their aggression is that these cards are very flop friendly. Obviously the easiest thing to hope for is for another King to show up and give the player a top pair, but another possibility is that with the K-J the player is two cards into a straight. The flop may very well deliver another few pieces of the puzzle. Also, see as they are suited, let's assume spades in this case, this hand can also be very easily turned into a flush.
The versatility available to the player not only justifies the aggression, but almost makes seeing the flop a foregone conclusion. Of course if the flop doesn't go your way, consider folding the hand.
Good Luck!
