The middle is usually a problem. Of course in a lot of cases this applies to men in their early forties for have given up working out in favor of pie. In this case gastric bypass may be the answer. If you are dealing with a problematic middle in the game of Texas Holdem, the best way to take care of the problem is squeeze them whenever possible.
In order to put pressure on the middle, you need a little help from an aggressive player in an early position. In today's poker environment, this happens much more frequently than it used to. When somebody bets from the early position instead of checking, it forces the middle player to make a decision about their hand. Are the cards they are clutching worth investing a bet in? Once they have committed to the bet, they will be sitting back and hoping you just call and go on to the next card. In this case you will raise. This is not only a play for now, but one for later as well.
At the moment you are forcing them to decide whether or not they should now put an extra bet into the pot to support their cards. If you consistently raise from the late position, you will quickly develop a reputation that will put pressure on people who are in the middle position.
Eventually they will not only be forced into a decision that involves calling the early seat's bet, but also facing a likely raise from you. In reality, the middle seats will be facing two bets to stay in the hand instead of just one. This squeezes them between you and the early position, and most will simply fold unless they have a legit hand.
Good Luck!
