Bubble... But...

Bubble... But...

There is that point in the tournament when you have invested hours - in some cases days - and the next player eliminated is the last person who will have to go away empty handed and broken hearted. The person who finishes after is the first one to finish "in the money". This is called being on the bubble.

If you have a short stack by the time you reach the bubble you can feel good about getting this far, but moral victories don't pay the mortgage. If you are short stacked and happen to be in the late position and playing behind a few other people in danger of being victimized by the bubble, this might be a good time to attack. The short stacks in the early position are just going to be holding on for dear life, and probably won't take the chance of challenging you if it means getting knocked one spot before a money finish. If there is a big stack in the mix who is showing a willingness to play, he is probably doing exactly what you are: being aggressive and banking on the short stacks to fold rather than be eliminated.

If this is the case, you are faced with the choice of continuing or folding, and surrendering the pot to the big stack. Aggression may not have much of an effect on that person seeing as he is in less danger of being eliminated, and he may see you all the way down to the river. In that case you can either challenge their aggression and hope for the best or fold.

  Good Luck!
