Today’s Texas Hold'em Strategy involves the idea of playing against people who have decided to split their attention. There are a ton of platitudes that talk about a lack of focus. Ones that come immediately to mind are “a house divided cannot stand”, and “divide and conquer”. While these sayings have been uttered to the point where they have almost lost all meaning, they are still extremely true. When playing Texas Hold'em online, you will find players who have not worked the idea of singular focus into their overall poker strategy, and you can occasionally take advantage of these folks.
Most internet poker rooms have a “find” function included with the other tools. If there is a player who you suspect is playing at multiple tables, simply plug their user name into that find field and search for what tables they are currently competing at. If they are active in a number of rooms, their attention is divided between what is happening in your room, and what is going on elsewhere. They probably won’t be able to employ any sort of cohesive Texas Hold'em Strategy at any particular table, and will be using the auto functions to save time.
With this said, if you get an immediate raise from someone playing at more than one table, this means they made a fast decision when they saw their cards, or something new that has appeared on the board. In this particular case, unless you have some extremely powerful cards of your own, your best poker strategy is to fold. Chances are their reaction was an honest one when they clicked the “auto-raise” button.
Like everyone else the majority of this person’s hands are going to be middle of the road hands. You can bluff them more easily then you can other players online simply because their attention is divided. Their poker strategy is more about volume then gamesmanship. Try to isolate this player; many times they may just bail instead of taking the time to match wits with you.
That is the Texas Hold'em Strategy for today.
