Why Native Mac Clients for Poker Rooms?

Why Native Mac Clients for Poker Rooms?

With so much emphasis placed on no download version of poker room software, games that are played in the browser and require only an internet connection, why is there a push for major poker rooms to put out native Macintosh poker rooms? The answer lies in the ability for poker rooms to attract those loyal Mac computer owners.  Macintosh is not the most popular or the most used computer in the world, falling behind the pervasive PC that runs Windows. As such, much of the software that is developed is first put out for the PC on Windows and then, maybe, for the Apple Macintosh. As a result Mac users are used to getting short shrift on the best selection of software, and this applies to the online poker world as well.  When poker rooms started putting out no download versions it was a good thing. Regardless of your operating system you could play on the site as long as you could connect to the internet, which you had to do anyway even with a downloaded version. But the flash based programs are often slower compared to the more stable download (Windows-only) versions.  But the biggest draw to a Mac user is the sign that the poker room cares about them. Putting out a native Mac version means that the room will go the extra mile, which Mac users are used to getting from Apple, so for those rooms that are investing in native Mac software - good move.
