Cheadle is known for a variety of acting roles including: Devil In A Blue Dress, Boogie Nights, Out of Sight, Swordifsh, Crash, Ocean’s 11 (and 12 and 13) and Hotel Rwanda, which garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in 2005.

Heavily involved in efforts to stop suffering around the world, Cheadle has been engaged in putting an end to the crisis in Darfur. He even co-founded “Ante Up For Africa” with poker pro Annie Duke. The annual event, which was introduced during the 2007 World Series of Poker, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for humanitarian efforts in the troubled African region.

In 2007, Don Cheadle played in NBC’s National Heads-Up Poker Championships and was paired up with Phil Ivey during the first round of the poker tournament. Cheadle was considered a significant underdog against Phil Ivey and his stone-cold poker face, but he went on to beat the poker pro and advance to the next round. Unfortunately, Cheadle was knocked out by Vegas poker pro Scott Fischman.

When Cheadle played in the National Heads-Up Poker Championships again in 2009, he defeated poker pro David Pham in the first round, but lost to poker pro Paul Wasicka in the round of 32.

Whether he is playing poker on television (Poker After Dark), organizing charity poker tournaments (Ante-Up for Africa), acting in Hollywood blockbusters (he will replace Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2 this summer) or receiving awards for his social awareness (he was given the BET Humanitarian Award in 2007), Don Cheadle is truly a modern renaissance man with a heart of gold – not to mention a definite skill at the poker table.
