  • Overall:

There is a lot to love about Europe: the Eiffel tower, Elizabeth Hurley, and the European's unprecedented obsession with cheese. Most people who are familiar with the genre of online poker may very well add the site EuroPoker.com to the list of that continent's assets. The site is user friendly, pleasing to the eye, and about as reliable as any engine not found in a Ford product. The site features the sort of graphics that will please anybody who would consider an inappropriate relationship with their X Box a legitimate romantic option, and the traffic is reasonably brisk with thousands of players online at any time. Add to this an extremely generous bonus structure and you have a winner on your hands. The biggest disadvantage is that most of the action seems to gravitate toward the Holdem tables, so if you are a fan of Omaha, you might find yourself in a very lonely place. Promotions are also not their strong point. So if you can live without Omaha, or catchy little marketing ploys to increase your trade, this is the place for you.

    Software and Design:

It's always a plus when you see the Linux symbol in a site's list of accepted operating systems. This means that those who choose not to contribute to Bill Gates' already prodigous fortune are welcome here. EuroPoker not only welcomes Linux users, but also is friendly to those self righteous Mac users as well; somebody has to love them.

This is an immensely functional site with a number of tools. Functions can be turned on and off as needed. Some of the more useful options are the ability to view your statistics and distinguish your opponents with color tags. This will help you keep track of your opponents and how they play.

The downside is the speed of the site is not really all it can be. In a world where instant gratification is the rule, even a few seconds delay can seem like a lifetime. The slow down between the long wait times between bets, folds, wins can be vexing to say the least. The nifty little BlackJack client they include almost makes up for this shortcoming though.

    Games:

Texas Holdem, 7 Card Stud, Omaha, 5 Card Draw.

    Tournaments:

On the plus side they do offer a wide variety of tournaments, on the minus side most of the action gravitates to the Holdem tournaments. Players will find decent action in the sit'n'go games and scheduled multi table tournaments. The price to play will vary from $5 buy-in to $100.

    Competition:

If we were speaking in terms of food, the competition at EuroPoker would fall somewhere in between a three-day old apple and a bag of Wonder Bread. In other words, it is soft, but you will still need your teeth to get your meal down. Some casual stats have shown that about 45% of the players see the flop at $2/$4 level and up, while lower stakes raise that seen flop number to around 75%. The lower you go, the less skilled the player. Most of the fish pool under the $50 level.

    Deposits and Cashout:

Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Web Money, Click2Pay, Firstgate, PaySafeCard, MoneyBookers.

    Bonuses and Promotions:

100% sign up bonus up to $100 plus a free Tournament ticket. Outside of the typical referral bonus and the seasonal promotions they run every year, there just isn't much going on promotion wise here. Of course where else in the world are your friends worth $40 a head?
