Until Beth Shak came along, the best thing to come out of Pennsylvania was the Hershey bar or chocolate sauce. Of course just about anyone with an XY chromosome who finds themselves genetically drawn to Three Stooges films would argue that combining Ms. Shak with products that are rolled out of Hershey, PA would be a good idea as well, but that is a topic for another day. As far as Beth Shak goes, she is a professional poker player from the state of Pennsylvania, and one of the most popular personalities in the sport.
Beth’s poker career has been relatively short and started in 2004. She started by playing online poker and familiarizing herself with the game by using the free play option, and doing her gambling with imaginary money. A year later she was sitting at the final table of the World Series of Poker’s Ladies Event. While she admits that there is a huge difference between free play and using real money, she was a quick study and quickly got the hang of the game. Since those early, free play, forays into the sport she has made a lot of noise in the sport, including a runner up finish at a WSOP event in 2007 and competing on the last day of the European Poker Tour’s season five. She eventually was eliminated in 30th place.
In the past she has been involved in a number of charities, using her poker skill to raise large sums of money for The Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania’s Palliative Care program. There are those who would speculate that her marriage to poker pro Daniel Shak was also an act of charity. The couple are now divorced and she has been recently spotted getting touchy, feely with Kidd Rock.
Poker and rock stars are not all she has going for her. In the near future her clothing line should be in stores. The first garment she will be designing is a hoody. According to Beth this is because it’s “freezing in all these poker rooms!”
