Some people look really good in Capri pants and four inch heels. Others look like they charge by the hour in an outfit like that. There are some dressed in those clothes who have more in common with a sausage or some other form of meat that is stuffed unattractively into tube. The point is that Capri pants and four inch heels don't work for everyone, and neither does poker strategy. Not every strategy works for every player, and not every strategy works against every player.
First of all, if you are naturally a passive person and try to change gears and take the advice that is meant for somebody who plays maniac poker, you will probably fail miserably. The style won't fit you right and unless you practice playing loose poker before trying maniac strategies, your opponents will be able to see the discomfort on your face when you make an aggressive move. Why give a room full of people looking for tells ammunition?
Also if you use a strategy that was designed for use against a passive player at a table full of very loose players, you may as well just save time, hand over your wallet, and head for Taco Bell.
Even the strategies that involve mathematics that would seem universal won't work against somebody who cares about pot odds about as much as Marilyn Monroe cared about celibacy. Remember to choose the strategies that fit you right, and use them against the proper opponents.
