Tipping the Balance

Tipping the Balance

There is a balance in place in every poker game at every poker table all around the world. It's the balance of income and outcome. To be honest, most poker players are at a similar level of skill compared to the players they play against. It's the sweet spot of poker to play like this because the earnings are the highest you can earn with a reasonable chance of victory under your belt.

This often results in a balance between a handful of key players at each table. Their even footing allows them to take money from each other in such a way as the total of one's possesses doesn't change all that much and remains in rough parity with the rest of the table.

Winning the game, then, is a matter of tipping this balance, throwing it out of whack, and setting up a new paradigm where you are on a level above the other players, a level that allows you to control the table, its pace, and the action that is happening on the pots.

Tipping this balance isn't something that is done slowly. It's usually done with one dramatic hand or action, but that one hand or action has a lot of other hands and actions building up to it. Tipping the balance takes place quickly, but the preparations necessary to tip the balance take time to develop. This means you have to observe the balance in place and look for the weak points where you can upset it. Doing so promotes you to the top of the pile and almost guarantees your success.
