Sloshed

There are a lot of things that can either inhibit your play or raise your game. Many of these things have absolutely nothing to do with the cards themselves. For example, we all know that going tilt is possibly the worst condition to be playing under. That is why your opponents will even resort to kicking you under the table in order to get your temper to flare. While saying that avoiding a tilt situation is about as obvious as making the statement that you shouldn't sit up for 36 hours watching Johnny Bravo while feasting on bran and cheese directly before a tournament, there are things that seem obvious that are common behavioral mistakes.

Anyone who has been to Vegas knows that the best thing for them to do is leave the antabuse at home. This is a city where alcohol may not be what fuels the activity, but it is as much a lubricant to the visitors as a can of Pennzoil is for a Hemi engine. In many casinos alcoholic beverages are either given away or cheaper than drinking water. A lot of poker players at the table take advantage of this perk, and often to their own peril.

It should be a no brainer that one should be sober at a poker table, but as many drinking and driving studies have proved, even one drink can impair one's judgment among a host of other effects on the body. Alcohol may be a nice addition when celebrating a win, but not a good way to get there.

  Good Luck at the tables!
