Respect Dealers

Respect Dealers

Dealers manage to get through most hands without showing anything that resembles emotion on their faces. This might lead people to believe that a dealer's DNA may share some common genetics with Vulcans, or at the very least, Romulans. Of course this is not possible seeing as science has yet to discover pointy eared, sarcastic humanoid aliens living outside our solar system. Then again, for decades scientists believed in spontaneous generation and a sun that revolved around the earth, so what do they know?  The reality is that dealers are very human, and while common sense tells us to treat the them with respect, a lot of players chuck their common sense out the window when things are not going their way at the table.  We have seen it from games at local casinos to the WSOP: players can get rude and downright obnoxious with the dealer. Most dealers, unless they ply their trade from the bottom of the deck, have no emotional investment in the outcome of a hand, therefore they are probably not dealing a particular player "wrong" cards on purpose. When things are not going your way, dont blame the dealer.  Those who treat the dealer with respect, will find that there are advantages. Dealers can be a good source of information, especially for newer player. While the dealer will not give them advice on strategy, they will help them adjust to how to play at a casino poker table. This will be boon for virgin players, and those who have spent most of their time playing online.  Remember, there is no gain in taking your frustration out on the dealer. If you have to yell at someone, get some takeout from McDonald's and yell at the drive-thru worker when they screw up your order.
