Draw poker allows you to control when you get your outs and, to some extent, how your hand develops from that. You can choose what cards to drop from your hand and when. You can also choose how many new cards to get, either one or two. There's another side to this that can be a useful part of any poker player's strategy when playing draw poker. Every time you draw a new card, you remove a card from the deck. Generally, you are doing this to add that card to your hand, hoping that it is the card that will complete the hand you are trying to develop, but there's another reason why you can do this. Every card you remove from the deck is another out you remove from your opponents. If there is a player who is desperately flipping cards for an out, you can frustrate him by flipping your own unused cards. Of course, you don't want to do this when you are using all five of your cards, but if your hand only incorporates some of the cards in your hand, you can flip out those useless cards to remove your opponent's outs from the game. Now, there's always the chance that you will draw out the cards that are in their way, opening up the outs they need, and this is a risk you must consider when flipping to remove outs.
