One of the most fun ways to play poker is at home with your buddies. It becomes a whole different game when it's just you and your friends. You can yell and scream to your heart's content, rib on your fellow players, and get totally blitzed. All without worrying about offending any patrons or angering a dealer and getting security called on you. Playing poker at home gives you the opportunity to try and feel like you're a Wild West outlaw without having to worry about the consequences of boisterous and possibly offensive behavior.
Another advantage playing at home with friends presents is the ability to modify the game as you play, fixing it in a manner of speaking.
Everybody shines differently when playing poker. Some people are monsters at Holdem; others dominate when playing Stud. When you play at home, you're generally playing for fun, and you can continually modify the game to keep it fun. Swapping variants between hands isn't something you can do at a casino, but at home, you can play a different variant whenever you want.
Wild cards are another way you can fix the game when playing at home. Wild cards can make up for handicaps or create a big one for everyone.
