Be a Poker Mentor

Be a Poker Mentor

You have put in countless hours playing poker online or at the casino, and by now you know a thing or two about the game. You know when to slow play and when to shove all in, you know how to spot a fish and what kind of bait to use to get paid off, and you know how to not go broke. You may not be the best or even close to where you want to be, but you certainly know enough to take a new player under your wing - become a poker mentor, and learn by teaching.

Consider giving some time to a new poker player. It could be a friend or family member, or it could be someone you see struggling at the pub poker league, someone who really wants to play but is getting frustrated because of their mistakes. Consider speaking up, letting them know you have noticed them, and ask them if they would like some advice.

Don't force yourself on anyone, but you might be surprised at how many people who sit stone faced behind sunglasses and ball caps - because they saw it on TV - don't know pot odds from a pot sticker and would welcome your help.

Doing it to help your fellow poker man is a great reason, but you will get something from it too. By organizing your thoughts and teaching them to someone else, you will actually strengthen your own understanding of the game, and you and your prot?g?e will grow in the game together.
