Bargain Hunting at the WSOP

Bargain Hunting at the WSOP

Heading for Sin City this summer to play in the WSOP? Need a rental car? Hertz has teamed up with the World Series of Poker to offer savings to their players, and this is just one indication of the bargain hunting prospective WSOPers should be doing before they go. The WSOP starts on June 1st, so there is no time like the present to start shopping around for deals.

It may seem silly to bother with Hertz deal of $20 off a car rental (at $5 per day) when you are going to be putting down anywhere from $1k to $50k for a single event of the WSOP (and hoping to rake in much, much more) but let's not forget that many WSOP players are on a budget. Sure, the Gordons, Hellmuths, Hansens and Iveys of the world will be spending money like it's water, but for many a player the WSOP is a once in a lifetime dream, and the trip is taken on a shoestring budget. Thus, the deal from Hertz, and other companies, are appealing.

When you approach a poker problem (raised all in from a creative player on the button who is short stacked in a NLHE tourney, and you hold pocket jacks and are a chip leader - what do you do?) you lay it all out in front of you, examining all angles of the problem, before you act. Planning a trip to Las Vegas to take part in the biggest, most prestigious poker competition in the world should be handled in the same way. Lay out your itinerary, examine your plans, and look for ways to save money and maximize your time, and it very well could pay off in spades.
