Fifteen thousand dollars doesn't go as far as it used to. There was a time when this would be considered a rather robust annual income and put one solidly in the middle or upper middle class. Today fifteen thousand dollars will get you a nice used car, a semester at a party college, or a night with the lady of the evening who brought down New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Considering all the things that one can get for their fifteen grand would a weekend with Daniel Negreanu be a wise investment of the money?
Obviously a weekend with Daniel would not include the sort of activities that were on the rate sheet for Ashley Alexandra Dupr?, but his seminar will allow burgeoning poker professionals to learn at the feet of one of the sport's masters.
From August 8-10, Negreanu will be holding his weekend poker seminar for up to 18 people who have the money to attend. This event will not only include some group learning time, but one on one attention from a person who has developed one of the best reputations in the sport of poker. But is it worth fifteen thousand dollars?
By all indications Daniel Negreanu is a good guy, and despite the fact that this whole thing smacks of a cash grab, he doesn't seem like the type to do it. With that said those who are putting up this much money to meet Daniel Negreanu are doing so for more than an attraction to his celebrity status. They are seeing this as an investment - one that they will see returned when they get to the poker tables. Hopefully using a big chunk of their bankroll to finance training from Daniel won't be like putting your retirement fund in Enron stock.
