There is an old adage that emphasizes how bad the human memory is by expounding the truth that we forget the things that are not right in front of us. Of course anyone who has ever been on the wrong side of an IRS audit knows that the "out of sight out of mind" statute doesn't really apply to tax evasion, but every good rule has to have a notable exception.
As everyone for whom the film "Die Hard" was a religious experience knows, AskMen.com released their list of the 10 hottest women in the sport of poker. Shana Hiatt was conspicuously absent from the roll call of beauties. She has left the show "Poker After Dark", and the male dominated audience moved on. This says more about the fickle nature of the audience than it does about Shana, who is currently more focused on having a healthy pregnancy than calming another Phil Hellmuth tantrum. Even as she temporarily goes to the industry's back burner though, and the audience warms to her NBC successor, it is odd how some faces we refuse to forget.
With that said, Courtney Friel showed up as number three on the list of poker hotties despite the fact that she has not been in the same room with a poker table and a television camera for about two years.
Courtney has always been a favorite at LaunchPoker.com. She is an odd mix of someone with the sort of hyper-attractive looks that would prompt any guy in the same room with her to nearly asphyxiate himself trying to suck in his belly, yet being still so approachable that you won't be embarrassed when gravity eventually wins the battle between you and your gut. In other words, she is the girl next door, if your neighbors happen to have the last name "Crawford" or "Heigl".
When we asked Courtney about her high placement on the list she was clearly flattered and joked with us saying, "That's cool... I'm happy to still be considered a poker hottie even though I'm not hosting the WPT anymore! Hopefully I'm still hot when I play poker though!"
Those who still miss her can catch her on at her gig as a Fox News personality.
