A pride of lions is perhaps the best example of the circle of life contained within the microcosm of small number of large, deadly predators who haven't realized that the mullet is out of fashion. Fundamentally big lions make little lions; little lions grow into surly teenaged lions; older male lions drive off the younger male lions before they get any funny ideas about the females in the pride; younger lions come back and clean the clocks of the older lions and take over. To be fair, a lot of times the older lions win and the younger cats are sent away badly in need of medical attention and a cold shower.
This is how life works in a lot of circles. In the world of professional poker the established pros have been struggling to keep their hold on the sport while under constant assault by the internet kids who have begun feeling their oats. These younger competitors have started making inroads into the sport that had previously been considered the sole province of folks who had "paid their dues". The battle between the generations is one that has fueled pages of press and hundreds of thousands of blog entries, and now a major network has picked up on people's interest in this topic, and has made it a part of their poker programming. NBC's Poker After Dark will feature what they call "Nets vs. Vets". This will pit some of the internet stars against three of the recognizable and accomplished players on the planet.
Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Brian "sbrugby" Townsend, and Andrew "good2cu" Robl will take on Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Huckleberry Seed. So who will win? The best cyberspace has to offer, or the guys with all the bracelets. This will probably be one of the most watched episodes of the season.
