Playing for T.J.

T.J. Martell was a young man whose courage and fighting spirit helped him hold out against the onslaught of leukemia for a full two years longer than the doctors said he was capable of. By contrast, Robin Leach is the sort of person who would only put up a medium sized struggle over the last slice of pizza. These two could not be father apart in terms of valor, but oddly enough they are on the same side when it comes to fighting one of the most evil forms of cancer.

T.J. passed away at the tender age of nineteen. Before moving on though, he asked his father, music industry executive Tony Martell, to raise a million dollars for cancer research. Tony Martell has since honored the wishes of departed son, and dedicated himself to raising money to stomp out the disease that took away his son. As the latest in the long line of Mr. Martell's philanthropic, cancer fighting efforts, he has tapped Robin Leach, host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, to preside over the first annual Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Las Vegas Hilton tonight. Proceeds will benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation.

Having Robin Leach involved in honoring somebody as brave as T.J. Martell is akin to having Spongebob read the eulogy at General Patton's funeral, but the guy has a way with celebrity events. This charity poker tournament will include country music and rodeo superstars including Buddy Jewell, Charley Pride, Tracy Byrd, Rodney Carrington, Trent Willmon, and Justin McBride.

For those who are interested in participating in this most worthy of causes, seats are still available. Register over the phone by contacting casino marketing at the Hilton at 800-457-3307. If you are going to lose your money in a poker tournament, what better cause could your gambling losses support?
