The Earth used to be quite a bit different than it is today. In the early days of Earth's development, the atmosphere was dominated by Methane and Ammonia. The top of the food chain at this point were some rather simple bacteria. They may not have been complex, but the Earth was theirs, and that's how they liked it. At some point in time, a poison called Oxygen was introduced into the atmosphere. This had an effect on much of the indigenous life that was not unlike the effect that antibiotics have on the creepy crawlies that call Paris Hilton their home after a night of partying. In short, the release of oxygen destroyed life as it was known on the early Earth.
If we include this bacterial apocalypse to the sheer number of climate shifts that had nothing to do with oil industry or flatulent cows, then you have a world history that suggests the only thing that is constant about the world's climate is that it is unstable.
Despite the inconvenient truth that nature marches to the beat of its own drum, Doyle Brunson has tossed his money in with the over emotional, under informed eco-movement. By offering to help fund a Leonardo DiCaprio film about how people are using Buicks and outdoor BBQ's to drive themselves into extinction, he is adding his voice to the chorus of guys who simply believe that human progress is something that should be stopped at all costs.
In his rush to look good in front of the Hollywood crowd, Doyle seems to have missed the fact that term "Global Warming" is disappearing. The new term in vogue is "Global Climate Shift." The reason for this is that the planet has refused to play along with this hoax, and has gone so far as to snow out some of the spring meetings on the topic of global warming. It got embarrassing screaming about how hot the earth is heating up while trying to get AAA on the phone to pull one's Honda Prius out of a snow bank.
If Doyle examined global warming with the same intensity that he scrutinized a foe in search of a tell, he would come to the conclusion that this is the biggest hoax that has been sold on to the world community since a guy in Rome gave people the opportunity to buy their way out of hell by paying indulgences. Instead of thinking it through he has chosen to buy into a farce about a man-made climate catastrophe that many scientists have completely discredited.
Ironically, the hot air that he and his Hollywood friends spew out about this issue may actually cause the climate change they have been blaming on everything from Wal-Mart to gassy mammals.
