Evel Knievel is widely recognized as the Elvis of stuntmen. He has done more for the motorcycle culture than those crabby guys at Orange County Choppers and "The Fonz" combined. Much of his fame was secured by a fashion sense that made "The King" himself look conservative as well as his willingness to launch his bike over extremely large objects. Evel learned back in the 70's that there are limits to a good thing though. In other words, jumping his bike over a fleet of buses was good. Jumping his bike over anything on fire was wicked good. Jumping a rocket bike over Snake River Canyon was just plain stupid.
We all love poker, and charity poker events are a great way to get much needed funding for organizations that exist to make the world a better place, but sometimes in an attempt to be creative they cross that fine line between something that is really cool, and the sort of event that makes about as much sense as an old episode of Twin Peaks. The AquaSports Scuba Center sprinted over that line when they announced their fourth annual Scuba Poker event to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.
This idea is really strange. What is even stranger is that they have been doing this every year since 2004. Poker is great on its own. The road rallies that get associated with it are interesting, but do they make poker better?
Anyway, Supporting the Children's Miracle Network is a worthy cause and those who want to support this event can get the details here: www.aquasports.ws. And for those who want to support the charity organazation directly, can go to www.childrensmiraclenetwork.org
