We think most of us are completely aware that very few male poker players will ever make the cover of GQ. There are a number of their female counterparts who would qualify for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, but that is more about what they're not wearing than anything else. We doubt anybody is buying that particular magazine to marvel at how artfully some designer can sew bits of lycra together. Despite the fact that Erica Schoenberg can do more for a Cleveland Cavaliers Jersey than Oprah could ever hope to do for a designer gown, it still qualifies as "slacker wear". This seems to be a plague in the sport of professional poker.
Finally someone has decided it is time to do something about this. WNK Wear of Southern California will be aggressively working poker into the launch of their new line that includes 20 brand new designs. For those normal, red blooded males who dream of seeing Vanessa Rousso in a little school girl outfit (or those brain damaged people who fantasize about Todd Brunson in the plaid skirt and knee socks of a female parochial school student), you can keep dreaming. WNK doesn't make that sort of clothing. They cater their fashions to those who think surfing and skateboarding are a pretty neat thing.
Part of their marketing strategy includes sponsoring blackjack and poker tournaments at the Normandie Casino in Gardena California. Part of these tournaments will also include the models that appear on the WNK website. From what we understand, bikinis will also be involved.
WNK now offers poker players a clear choice: the cowboy hat ensemble that includes sweat pants and a baggy shirt, or stylish clothing that can express anything from the skate culture to a cool retro look. It's your choice.
