Actors Play Poker Players at the WSOP

During the Show "Dancing with the Stars" Jerry Springer and Marie Osmond may have done well competing against other pampered Hollywood personalities whose most challenging moment in life involved a casting couch or a hangnail, but how would either have fared against Ginger Rogers? We think either would have looked about as graceful as the singer Meatloaf next to a real dancer like the lovely Ms. Rogers.  While any gentleman with a healthy libido and an appreciation for Hollywood history would relish the opportunity to bring up the topic of Ginger, she is just an example of what happens when actors and actresses forget their place and believe their own hype. They can't compete with the real thing. With this example in mind, one has to wonder why Hollywood types pay thousands of dollars at the World Series of Poker to pretend they are poker players, and lose their chips to those who really are.  Last year Tobey Maguire made a fairly impressive run finishing the WSOP Main Event in 292nd place and taking home $39,445 in prize money, but he is one of the few who managed to do more than just be debris left at the side of the table by better players.  Tobey is a student of Daniel Negreanu so his small victory is not altogether unexpected, but learning from Mr. Negreanu and beating him, or anyone like him, are two completely different things. Considering the fact that Tobey has yet to win WSOP gold, it would seem that he isn't to the level of a real pro yet.  This year the WSOP will be full of Hollywood celebrities. Chances are they will all be sent packing without a bracelet or even a money finish. Maybe someday they will learn to stay with the charity tournaments and leave the WSOP to the pros. And what is your opinion on that matter?
