This Universal Pictures, UK DVD was released in 2005 and has since received mixed reviews. "Learn to Win" sways greatly from the typical step-by-step, "demonstration with narration" type instructional poker DVD’s that many of us are accustomed to. "Learn to Win" actually plays out in the form of a short film in which Lee Jackson - banned from the world’s classiest casinos - creates his own poker academy. |
Despite the fact that much of the material he covers deals with seven card stud, there is still value here for the most ardent of Hold’em players. Not only does some of the theory and probability examples cross over between the two games, but he stresses the idea of playing well despite the outcome. Quite simply, good play will win in the long run. |
Does anybody remember when Geraldo Rivera was doing his special on the “The Secret of Al Capone’s valut”? At the end of the show he opened the thing up and the big secret is that it was empty. That is the feeling most people will walk away with after watching this DVD. |
