Friends, Romans, and countrymen, we ask you - what better says "New Jersey" than a Roman forum, togas, classic Roman statues and casino staff adorned in battle gear? The imperial resort of Caesar's in Atlantic City brings the legendary Roman Empire to the Garden State, and the Empire includes, as of July 1, 2005, a new Poker Room so that patrons can play a game that even emperors never could.
The Poker Room - or, rather, the "Poker Arena" - at Caesar's features two dozen tables, of which a little less than half have ShuffleMasters. There is even enough room to permit side tables. Caesar would be pleased, although he might be baffled by the fifteen 50-inch plasma TVs in the room.
Poker Tournaments - sorry, "Gladiator Games" - include No Limit Texas Hold'em on Monday through Saturday at 3pm, with an $80/buy-in, and an additional tournament on Saturday at 1pm with a $100 buy-in. Major tournaments include the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Poker Tournament.
Atlantic City Magazine gave Caesar's its due, when it named the 120,000+ square foot casino as the "Best Place to Play Table Games" in town. Gaming spaces, in addition to the Poker Arena, include the Main Casino, the Party Pit, Cleopatra's Garden (no, she wasn't Roman, but she dated a few), Hippodrome, The Palace Court and the Palladium Slot Arena. And Casino Player magazine voted Caesar's Atlantic City Keno Casino as "Best Keno."
What should a Roman do with their Gladiator Games winnings from the Poker Arena? Look no further than some of the best eating and drinking establishments in all of Rome, New Jersey - including Primavera, Nero's Grill and the Bacchanal, Cafe Roma, La Piazza, Gladiator Grille, Venice Bar, Toga Bar, Forum Lounge, Venice Bar and the Gladiator Sports Bar.
