The Strategies For Sharpening Your Multi-Table Play

Multi-Table Play

As we learned last week, when it comes to the obvious differences between playing in an online poker room and casino poker, the ability to play multiple games simultaneously has to be one of the big pros to being part of an online poker room. Playing multiple tables at online poker sites can be very profitable, seeing as there is a lot of texas holdem betting going on. The internet poker strategies and skills involved with being a great multi-game player is something that must be learned over time. Multi-tabling at online poker sites is, in itself, a unique skill. Those who can do it well can multiply their Texas holdem betting and reap huge rewards. This is a huge advantage over casino poker players who can only play one table at a time.
For lots of us, one table at a time, like in casino poker, is just fine. Many internet poker players can easily handle three or four online poker games at a time. A few high volume online players have reported that they have handle upwards of 15 multiple games at a time playing online poker sites, but you can bet that they didn’t start out being so skilled. These internet poker players practiced multi-tabling and got better at it. As they did this more often at online poker sites, adding additional tables as they became more and more efficient, they learned to do this without becoming overwhelmed. Remember, if you overload, not only will your expected earnings drop, but your texas holdem betting action will slow way down and you will become a target to the other internet poker players in the online poker room.
One common mistake for a multi-game player at online poker sites is to stall before making a continuation bet or to miss it all together. They do this because they momentarily lose track of the action in that specific online poker room. If they suddenly hesitate or check in a spot where you would expect a continuation bet, it often indicates weakness, and quite often a bet or a raise will take the pot. This is the drawback when juggling a lot of texas holdem betting at once.
When playing at online poker sites, it is generally easier to bluff multi-game players because they are often giving priority to their more valuable hands. This is very different from the casino poker experience where every hand has the player’s full attention. If they have only a marginal hand, they will often let it go without much thought, since they don’t have the usual time to analyze the bet as a bluff and consider the merits or re-bluffing. Most multi-tabling players are aware that they are giving up some of their edge and they will try to compensate for this by tightening up their pre-flop hand selection. This means that multi-tablers will play slightly fewer hands pre-flop than those who don’t. They also tend to defend the blind less. This doesn’t mean that multi-game players are weak-tight. They have more online poker room experience and they recognize the value of bluffing or betting into a checked pot.
Despite the many merits of becoming a multi-game player at online poker sites, always keep in mind the demands and financial pitfalls of having so much Texas holdem betting in play at once. If you are still a beginner, losing more hand than you win, then focus on one online game or casino poker game at a time for now. You will lose less money playing lots of internet poker tables.
