The Ultimate Poker Challenge is perhaps the biggest syndicated poker show on the planet. What that means is that the show doesn't have an official home on cable or network television, so local networks purchase program. Today the Ultimate Poker Challenge can be seen in every state on a score of channels. Viewers can either test the stamina of their "clicking" thumb by channel surfing until they find it, or simply check the website for where to watch this television show.
The Ultimate Poker Challenge is set up as a series of tournatments. Each week is a brand new tournament with the players all competing for a seat in the the semi-finals.
Just because this show is not offically on any particular network, does not mean that it is second rate by any means. The first season featured a wide variety of professionals playing for the championship, and the sport's mega-stars acting as guest hosts. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Jennifer Harman, and Phil "The Unabomber" Laak all sat behind the commentator's desk at some point in the first season. Any show that has the seal of approval from players at that level probably is worth watching.
The Ultimate Poker Challenge, like many of its contemporaries, has a small stable of hosts to guide the viewer through the action. Vegas insiders, poker television connoisseurs, and most creatures with a Y chromosome will recognize the co-host of the UPC: Brandi Williams. Over the past couple years she has been a big presence in the gambling industry. For a while she was even the official entertainment reporter for Las Vegas. The other side of the co-host coin is actor Chad Brown. Those who are familiar with the soap opera Another World and the successful television game show Caesar's Challenge will already be familiar with Chad. Together they are an entertaining combination.
As was mentioned earlier, this show is in syndication. The times and stations that it will appear on vary dramatically city to city. See the website for details specific to your area.
