Berry Johnston was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2003. It’s believed that it was his third dream. The other two were as follows.
1) To play poker well enough to make a living at it.
It became true in 1982 when Johnston placed 3rd at the WSOP. His list of wins is one of the biggest. He has finished in the money at least 30 times. He is also one of the most respected players. He’s respected for how he conducts himself at and away from the table. Doyle Brunson described him as follows: "What I admire most about Berry is not Berry the great poker player, but Berry the man. He is a deeply religious and devoted family man, who has always been a gentleman at all times." In 1985 he played against Bill Smith and T.J. Cloutier. And when it was understood that Johnston lost… he didn’t say a word… He just got up and when his wife said: "Honey, I'm hungry. Can we go get something to eat now?" he didn’t get angry. He answered: "OK, honey, we'll go eat if that's what you want to do."
