Kristy started playing poker in 1986. She was underage for many of the places she played at, but like a true poker player, bluffed her way through the doors and sat confidently at the tables. Despite this early start to her career, she didn’t begin serious tournament play till 2003. It did not take her long to make name for herself. In this short time she has had a number of notable finishes and victories. The most recent being last July when she took home $250,000 after winning the FullTiltPoker.net Championship at the Wynn in Las Vegas.
At the table Kristy is known for quirky sense of humor, aggressive play, and a collection of sunglasses that would make Elton John cry from envy. She developed her style by watching players she respects. Ms. Gazes lists Daniel Negreanu, Billy Duarte, and ex husband Bill Gazes as influences on her playing. Currently, Kristy touts her association with full tilt poker and can be found playing there, online, on a daily basis. Last February she also signed on with the Game Show Network to play on their hit show “Poker Royalle, Battle of the Sexes”. Despite her talent for the game, and how much it is a part of her, Kristy has expressed her desire to retire from the sport in the next few years, favoring a ranch in Maui over the tables in Vegas. Whether the talk of retirement is just that, talk, or a reality that will come to pass, we can enjoy Kristy while she is still here.
